education projects

I teach from the same mindset with which I enter a rehearsal room: the desire to cultivate discovery. Teaching and theater-making are live, collaborative acts that demand us to pay attention, take risks, build connection, and imagine otherwise.

My education work often engages with embodied learning, arts integration, and disability inclusion.

embodied learning

Broken Box Education, a division of Broken Box Mime Theater, provides experiences that connect thought, body, and feeling to increase communication, confidence, and positive relationships. Our work centers movement-based storytelling, joy, accessibility, reflection, resilience, and the practice of empathy.

As Education Co-Lead for Broken Box Mime Theater, I have had the privilege of teaching physical theater-making all over the world. mathmagic - ARTS INTEGRATION

Developed in partnership with Trapezium Math,  Mathemagic plays are scripted shows that are performed by K-5 students. All plays include scaffolded opportunities for students to perform mental "math magic tricks" live on stage within the context of an action-packed story.

I developed and staged three mathmagic shows, performed by students in Philadelphia. MATHMAGIC & THE TECHNO-MONSTERS Young mathmagicians prove that the power of mental math is stronger than technology. MATHMAGIC: SLIMEFACTOR An underdog crew of mathletes come together save the mathmagic show from being canceled in favor of a mindless reality TV program. MATHMAGIC: TIME WARP The mathmagicians accidentally discover time travel! They need need to harness their own mental math abilities as well as the help of some under-recognized historical mathematicians to return to the present.

DISABILITY ACCESS & INCLUSION

I began working in inclusion and therapeutic recreation settings in 2006. Whether in collaboration with BKBX or in my own art-making practices, I remain endlessly curious about partnering with those who access the world from a different vantage point than I do.

Meaningful partnerships include: Camp Paha Theater Horizon Autism Drama NYC D75 Schools AHRC Brooklyn Transitional High School

I'm based in NYC and love to travel.

Dual citizen USA & Australia.
